Resilience is an ongoing practice to equitably improve the ability of people, organizations, systems, and assets to thrive in the face of chronic stresses and acute shocks by assessing the current situation to understand where we are, identifying targets for where we would like to be, and developing strategies to achieve our desired outcomes.

As we work to establish and maintain the practice of resilience, it is easy to continue to perpetuate the very inequities that reduce our collective resilience. If we approach things the way we always have, we will continue to increase inequities.

True resilience is practiced equitably. We have the opportunity to surface and challenge the assumptions our unconscious mind has created about the world around us and therefore how we approach resilience. We can take responsibility by developing the necessary consciousness and taking consistent, practical actions to build a practice of resilience that works for all of us.
